The sixth international exhibition on bourse, bank and insurance and the fourth international conference on Islamic capital market, which is the largest event of its kind in the Middle East, will be held in Tehran May 8-11.

Over 200 companies will represent 15 countries in the event, IRNA news agency reported.

While the stock markets of the Middle East and North Africa region saw a very poor year in 2011, Tehran Stock Exchange experienced an unprecedented growth of 30 percent, leading the financial markets of the region, a report by the Economist said.

The capital market’s value has reached some 1,260 trillion rials (around $103 billion), the Securities and Exchange Organization’s director announced on January 28.

“Taking the over-the-counter market into account, the figure stands at 1,560 trillion rials (some $127 billion),” Ali Saleh-Abadi said, IRNA news agency reported.
